You can’t miss the brightly colored facades beckoning you to enter the Willy Wonka interiors of these clothing and accessories stores. The clothes are made in France in their workshops, using natural materials (hooray!). They carry womenswear, home decor and childrenswear.

Lovely art and design bookstore on the banks of the Cana St. Martin. An impressive collection of books is mixed with paper goods, one-of-a-kind postcards, accessories and Polaroid cameras. Mon-Fri 10:30am–7:30pm, Sat 11am–7:30pm, Sun 1pm–7:30pm

You won’t find any pastries here, but treats abound. Just south of Sacre-Coeur this independent boutique carries unique and eclectic clothing and accessories by local designers (we met some working there on our visit). Daily 11am–8pm

Charming old-school gourmet boutique, packed with everything from confitures to confits (high-quality and unusual ingredients for bakers). The name is a play on words for “I have everything.” (j’ai du tout) and it seems they do.

Prepare to be overwhelmed, if treasure-hunting through rooms and rooms of vintage clothing and accessories is your thing (it’s mine), send your pals to wait for you at a nearby café and roll up your sleeves. I’ve never left empty-handed. Mon-Sat 10:30am–7:30pm

A bit like if Anthropologie and Conran had a baby… Merci is a trendy new concept store with contemporary and vintage clothing for women & men, childrenswear, housewares, decor, furniture, jewelry, stationery, and a cafe, whew. Plus the proceeds of the store go to charity! Mon-Sat 10am-7pm

OFFICINE UNIVERSELLE BULY 1803
Prepare to time travel to magical goodness. This beautiful, 19th-century apothecary is filled with luxurious creams, handmade soaps, toothpaste, body washes, fragrances… Pick up some gifts to bring home or stockpile for yourself, the amazing interiors make this seem like a boutique & museum visit all in one. Along the banks other the Seine, it’s a tourist attraction, but the historic English language bookstore is a working bookstore. Rummage through the warren of bookshelves, the racks on the sidewalk, or take a break in the cafe. Open: 12 - 6pm
